| ABOUT |
I was introduced to painting at a young age by my neighbors and amazing artists, Lou Marak and Philomene Bennett. I have since been painting my whole life what I have come to understand as the internal landscapes of my mind- pictures about how I interpret and experience life.
The paintings unfold gradually, intuitively. Through layers of accrued oil paint, points of departure that lead the to new places. The pictures are open-ended. Titles are not narrations or definitions, but words that leave the viewer space to draw their own inferences from the architecture of their own private imaginations.
I believe in an abundance of goodness and beauty and in our individual responsibility to cultivate this within ourselves so that we can share it with one another. My work is about this – about this process of nurturing something into bloom. Being self- taught has given me the freedom to break all of the rules I never knew and the freedom to paint without fear. I rejoice in this freedom-it keeps me painting from the inside out, happy and sincere.
